WHY PRACTICING GRATITUDE IS A FREE BEAUTY SECRET

WHY PRACTICING GRATITUDE IS A FREE BEAUTY SECRET

Did you ever stop to think that what you are thinking is making lines on your face, putting weight on your body and maybe sagging your skin and ageing you? That sounds a little confronting, but how you are living your life is affecting how you look.

SO WHAT CAN WE DO TO CORRECT OURSELVES?

The answer is a beautiful practice of gratitude. This practice has a huge array of benefits that end up helping you feel and therefore look your best. The benefit is of course while you are thinking about your looks you are changing the way every aspect of your life is going to turn out.

AND IT'S FREE!

Without having to spend any money at all, gratitude is a beauty routine that you can incorporate in your day while you go about your normal busyness. It only takes an intention to get you on your way.

There is so much focus on the mind and the body but how often do we practice mindfulness as we go about the mundane habits and motions in life?

THOUGHTS CREATE YOUR REALITY

We are getting the understanding that our thoughts create our reality, so what are you thinking that is messing with the graceful aging of your body? It may be time to check in with yourself before you worry about what anti-ageing lotions you can apply.

And it is at the level of lifting back the veil of worry and stress and letting things go past without taking them in. The practice of gratitude goes a long way to improve your day right from the way you step out—that is, your state of being-how you conduct yourself.

Regardless of what happens to you, good or bad, you should be grateful that it is leading you to an interesting life. You didn't sign up for everything to go along a flat line, but if you expect things to go well, then when things go off your plan, be grateful for what may be blessings in disguise! You know the ones that you look back on and say, 'how lucky it was that blah happened, or I wouldn't have met you if it didn't', for example.

THOUGHTS ARE LIKE A CHAIN REACTION.

What you shall sow, you shall reap. Sow happiness in this week." Says Yogi Bhajan, (Kundalini Yoga founder)

Thoughts of course start small and expand, once you repeat them enough or let them out of your mouth. Events are happening around you all the time, so your choices are to go with whatever is happening, come what may, or take things on and judge them, criticize or get upset about things that you can't control—annoying traffic, people who hold you up, things that you plan that don't turn out, for example. You can choose how you process everything by noticing how you respond and by changing it if you immediately go for getting upset about it. Find things to be grateful for and list them in your head instead, as you take a deep breathe and get through whatever it is you are in.

THERE IS ALWAYS A HIDDEN BLESSING IN DISGUISE

Things happen for some divine reason, you don't know what it is. The common denominator though in your life is you. If you feel happy that no matter what happens it will work out for the best, then you can look at everything with gratitude. You can't see the divine plan, (that would spoil the fun!). You just see a tiny bit of your story as interpreted by your current perspective, which is small and meaningless, so you have to let it go.

LIFE IS A SERIES OF MOMENTS, NOT FROZEN FRAMES TO GET STUCK ON.

If you trust the divine plan then you can approach life with a lighter attitude and find things to be grateful for in the littlest of events—like being held up in traffic—be grateful as it may divert you from something else happening, for example. Whatever it is, you don't know the full story and it could be much more inconvenient and dramatic than what you are getting upset about.

When you get into a situation that you don't prefer, focus on something that you are grateful about it, and if you can't find it there, think about something that you are grateful for in your life that got you to where you are today. You will change the perspective of what is happening to you and help you get a better grip on how lucky you are.

JOURNAL YOUR GRATITUDE LIST

Get a head start to the day with a gratitude list
There is nothing better than journaling your thoughts every morning before you get dressed and out the door.

Try hand writing, to yourself, the first things that come to your mind and seeing them appear as an observer. A gratitude list is great for this. It will get your creative juices flowing for your work to follow, as you look at how lucky you are and set the tone of your day from there—like getting out of the bed on the right side!

It can go like this:

  • I am grateful for my loving husband
  • I am grateful for the beautiful city I live in
  • I am grateful for my health
  • I am grateful for the friends in my life that love me.
  • And so on.

Make them what you have, and add in the things that you also are working on attracting into your life—so, things you would like to have in your life as if they are already there. If you think it you have a greater chance of it coming into your life because you become attuned to the things you spend the most time thinking about. Of course you have to work with what you feel is right, otherwise you will write something and then say, 'oh yeah right!' with disbelief. And this leads me to the next point…

THE OPPOSITE IS LACK

If you don't think about being grateful for the little or big things, you will spend time in wishful thinking mode and wish that you had something that you want rather than believe that you can have it.

Again what are you focusing on will find you. Lamenting over something you wish you had will keep it from finding you, and may come from other emotions like blame, shame, lack of self worth and other core beliefs that you could do some work on eliminating. Check what you really think you are grateful for, because you will soon realize just how lucky you are and expand from that feeling and show it on your body. Whatever you do today will show tomorrow and the next day, so the habit of gratitude will raise your vibration to a place that will bring in more of what represents who you are and how you feel, and so it continues and carves out your magnificent (or otherwise) beauty!

There is one really simple practice that will improve your day, get you smiling instead of frowning and set you up for more love to find you, and for that you can be grateful!
